For many years nutritionists have been warning us about high intake of sugar and how it affects our health and weight loss. When we think about sugar we usually think about deserts, lollies, soft drinks but there is another sweet enemy influencing whether you will lose fat from your thighs or not. This is fruit.
Yes, the healthy fresh fruit that everyone says it’s so good for you. Is it really?
The debate has stirred up nutrition industry because the fruit is high in sugar and it is also loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, fibber and other nutrients which are all essential for a healthy body. Cutting fruit from your diet seems like a bad idea. So where does this leave you if you are trying to lose fat from your thighs and butt?
I think it’s important to highlight that when you are on the mission to lose fat from thighs and butt you will need to sacrifice something to achieve this goal. That something is sometimes food that it’s good for you, save for whilst you are trying to lose fat from thighs and butt. Such food is fruit.
Some diets, such as dukan diet plan specifically don’t allow you to eat fruit as they are based on cutting out carbs, which includes sugar. After first two phases, which are weight loss phases, dukan diet plan gradually introduces fruit back to your normal diet. For two obvious reasons – fruit is healthy and you have now lost weight. It’s time to start introducing balanced healthy diet, as eating only protein and vegetables is not sustainable.
Here is the catch. Even though the fruit is healthy you need to appreciate how to consume it in a healthy way.
1 – Eat fruit, don’t drink it
Juices are delicious, but they don’t contain any fibre. While you are getting sugar fix, vitamins and all the calories, you are not getting hunger satisfaction. Opposite, eat a whole fruit, it slows down your digestion and you will feel filled up. You might have heard that a glass of fruit juice, even freshly squeezed has the same amount of calories as a glass of soft drink.
2 – Don’t eat it in the evening
How many times we hear people say “I’m on a diet, so I’ll just have a bowl of fruit for dinner.” This is the worst weight loss mistake that people make. You will consumer way to much sugar too late in the day. Unless you are going out dancing, your body doesn’t need this extra energy – so what it does, it stores it right on, you’ve guessed it, your thighs and butt.
3 – Focus on vegetables
If you decided to eat healthier or if you are dieting to lose fat from your thighs and butt then vegetables are your better option. Especially water rich ones such as capsicum, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers etc (not starchy potatoes, beans etc).
We’ve all been thought that we should consume at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetable a day. First, these two groups of food are so different we shouldn’t even talk about them in a same breath. You can have as much vegetable as you can and no more than two serves of fruit a day, preferably in the first part of the day.
As you see, fruit can have enormous impact on your results when you are dieting to lose fat from your thighs and butt. Whilst it has great benefits for our wellbeing, we need to consume it in balance. No extreme is good however there are circumstances when cutting certain foods for a specific period of time can actually help us achieve weight loss goals faster.
